A Unique Perspective of Our Existence
The Science of Being - an excerpt from chapter 20's, "Space and Time"
Of course, Adam and Eve will be the first to occupy a body of redemptive stardust formed by Christ over time in this temporary realm of existence. Since our God is an eternal being, I have no dispute with how long Christ took to form all the creatures that inhabit this earth in our current form of existence. The necessary time to fashion a flesh body to house the spirits and souls of Christ’s previous fallen creation seems inconsequential for a timeless God. After all, the Godhead exists outside of time, and no other God steps into His appointed time other than the Messiah, who is both the Anointed One and His anointing.
I have no qualms with science and the study of evolution, which uses natural laws and natural points of reference to explain the formation of our existence. Sadly, in many cases, that viewpoint remains only from a natural perspective, measured and hypothesized by natural surroundings alone. The laws of nature are irrefutable, and natural selection is quantitative, except for the significant gaps of time needed to fill the earth with its millions of known and unknown species.
Conversely, believers know that God crafted and molded our natural universe by the power of His Word and Spirit. We understand that things seen were created by things unseen. The time and space needed to craft our universe on a literal biblical timetable of a few thousand years seem silly in the face of science and natural laws, which Christ created. Biblical timetables are unmistakably momentous and inspired by God, but why must they begin and end at the starting point of our imagination? The significant dates of focus in the Bible seem to be geared toward humanity’s occupancy on this planet, from the first human spirit and soul to the last human spirit and soul in this body of redemptive flesh.
Of course, science can only explain tangibles. Therefore, science explains the human mind, with its intangible psyche, in terms of tangible solutions of natural cause and effect, ignoring our spiritual existence altogether. Without God's acknowledgment, life's meaning is futile, at best. At worst, it is a gross absurdity without any consciousness of eternal consequences and with no purpose but to eat, drink, and find happiness in self-motivated achievements that often overlook the happiness of others.
Without the wisdom of the living God, we remain intellectual beings who fulfill our sense and sensibilities with self-made scruples and morals that we often force on others to justify our beliefs. I’m often amazed at how the most judgmental people don’t believe in judgment and often radically impose irrational ideological judgments on others. Of course, Christians can be just as judgmental, but at least our footing anchors us to the solid Rock of Salvation, which tempers our old nature with our new nature of spiritual gravitas, grace, and forgiveness in the face of adversity. Nonetheless, the light of wisdom shines brightly in the dark so that many nonbelievers possess an innate ability to discern right from wrong, sincerely acting and appearing godlier than some believers.
Scientific thought and the mechanics of engineering in the minds of humans are amazingly awe-inspiring. Even so, it can be detrimental and lifesaving, depending upon the inventors' and users' ethics and values. Nevertheless, God inspires the mind of humanity with inventive ideas to research and develop into valuable and productive products, as He has done throughout human history, up to present-day and future technological advances. These clever and skillful inventions that the Spirit of wisdom delights in sharing with humankind can be helpful tools to advance God’s cause, give us life, and more abundantly, or advance the cause of God’s enemies to steal, kill, and destroy. Unfortunately for humanity, the Bible has already foreseen and declared the world’s bloody outcome, spiritually and naturally, with the use of modern-day instruments of warfare in a world aghast and with no freedoms. In the meantime, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding,” to enjoy all these technological marvels and wonders to advance the will of God’s grace in the earth as we see that day approaching (Proverbs 4:7 KJV).
